School Board Meetings
School Board meetings, which are open to the public, are held at 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month, with exceptions noted on the district website. Meetings are held throughout the district; check the schedule to find the locations for the meetings.

Board agendas are available at board meetings or may be picked up prior to the meeting at the District Office. Board meetings are cablecast on Town Square Television channel 20 on the Friday (1 p.m. and 7 p.m.) following each regular Board meeting.

Addressing the Board
The Board shall conduct the business of the district in an orderly and efficient manner and will, therefore, require reasonable controls to regulate public presentations to the Board.

The Chair may invite comments by visitors during the “Visitor Communication” portion of the agenda. Persons wishing to be heard by the Board shall first be recognized by the Chair. Speakers shall then identify themselves and proceed with comments as briefly as the subject permits.

When an agenda item is discussed and action is requested, visitors may comment prior to Board discussion. Items of a personal nature regarding any staff member are requested in writing (rather than orally). The written comments will be shared with the staff member in question and the appropriate administrator, with a written response to be provided later, but in a timely manner, from the administration to the Board.

Questions or Concerns?
Before appealing to the School Board about problems or concerns, citizens are urged to contact the teacher, then the building principal, then the Superintendent of Schools in order to reach successful closure to an individual issue. If these procedures are unsuccessful, arrangements will be made for the concerned party to formally address the School Board.

Correspondence to board members may be sent to individual members or the Board as a whole in care of the Superintendent of Schools, 2990 80th St. E., Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076, or via e-mail at dave.bernhardson@isd199.org.
