Simley Alumnus and Special Olympics AthleteSimley High School alumnus, Charlie Rea, will compete in the Special Olympics USA Games this July. After 22 years on the Special Olympics Minnesota team, the South Region Stars, Charlie will represent the state in bocce ball. He heads to Seattle this summer to compete against athletes across the nation.

Though Charlie enjoys bocce ball, tennis, and alpine skiing, he has focused on bocce ball for the past three years. Last August, he competed in the state bocce ball competition, winning gold in the singles event. After interviewing with Special Olympics staff, Charlie was chosen as one of only 8 Team Minnesota bocce ball players.
