Neon Run
We need your help to support Pine Bend Elementary and their mission to promote fitness and fun for ALL students throughout the school.  October 7th is an early release day - Ms. Darrow and Ms. Koch have organized a neon fun run to take place on this day.

We are in need of 15-20 volunteers to help with the following: starting and stopping the race, keeping students on their running track, handing out glow sticks and keeping students safe inside and outside the building.  The time commitment for this day would be around 8:30am-11:15am.
If you are able to volunteer for this event please contact Sarah Gorter at 651-331-6249 or[email protected].

Inquire, Inform, Inspire Community Talks with Superintendent Bernhardson
Inver Grove Heights Community Schools is committed to its community, and we want to answer your questions. During the 2016-2017 school year, Superintendent Dave Bernhardson will be available at locations throughout the community for informal community talks. ISD199 invites you to visit with him and ask questions about the district. No registration is required. These events are free and open to the public.

The first Community Talks event will be this Friday, September 30, 9:30AM-10:30AM at the McDonald's on the corner of 80th Street and Cahill Avenue (3075 80th Street East). Also, save the date for the October 20 talk, which will feature a tour of Simley High School’s new facilities, including the Performing Arts Center. A full schedule can be found here.

Lost and Found
We already have numerous sweatshirts in the lost and found. If you think your student is missing an item, please have them check the lost and found bin located in the cafeteria. It is also a good idea to label your child's clothing with their name to help minimize lost items.

Box Tops
Remember to clip and turn in all your box tops! Box tops earn .10 each for Pine Bend. You can turn them in at the box near the media center. More information coming on what products have box tops in this week's Wednesday folders!

School Hours
School hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. We ask that parents drop students off between 8:15-8:25 a.m.

Student Drop-Off

STUDENT DROP OFF IS NOT PERMITTED BEFORE 8 A.M.

Students who are dropped off by a parent are allowed to enter the building at:

  • 8:10 a.m. if they are eating breakfast here.
  • 8:15 a.m. when the first bell rings.

If you drop your student off at school in the morning, please follow these guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all Pine Bend students:

  • Park in the parking lot if you need to enter the building.
  • If you arrive early, pull forward as far as possible as space becomes available.
  • Do not cut in front of other cars - wait patiently.
  • Drop students off at the curb.

Attendance
ISD 199 wants your children to be successful at school. Attendance at school every day plays an important part in that success. Our goal is to help your children get into the habit of coming to school every day. Please review the flier found here http://dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/sspw/pdf/caearlyattend.pdf that emphasizes the importance attendance plays in your child’s school career.

At Pine Bend, we monitor attendance very closely. Note that a letter will be sent home

  • At 3 unexcused absences
  • At 5 unexcused absences
  • At 7 unexcused absences; meeting with parents
  • After 7 unexcused absences, a report is made to Dakota County Child Protection for educational neglect as mandated by MN Statute 102A.22.

**3 unexcused tardies are considered 1 unexcused absence.

Steps to Volunteering in ISD 199

ALL field trip volunteers MUST have a Volunteer Application and a CURRENT background check on file

  1. Complete a Volunteer Application. ALL volunteers must complete this. You can find both an online and print application at: http://www.isd199.org/community/volunteer_corps/application_and_forms. The print application can be turned in to the Pine Bend office. The online application is automatically submitted upon completion.
  2. Complete a background check if:
  • You are going on a field trip
  • You are working one-on-one with a student

You may apply online here: http://www.isd199.org/community/volunteer_corps/application_and_forms. The cost is $18 and is payable by credit card. The background check is good for 12 months.

**Please be aware that the background check process takes a minimum of 24 hours to complete**

NOTE: ISD 199 will NOT accept the results of other background checks.

If you have questions about the volunteer process, please contact Sara Pearce at 651-306-7701.
