Boys Varsity Hockey beats Austin 7-2

The Simley Boys Hockey team’s record stands at 4-2-1 after Saturday night’s 7-2 win over the visiting Austin Packers. The Spartans had a 50-20 advantage in shots. Robbie Watson, Jamie Warrick and Peter Gorman scored two goals each. James Royce gets the 18-save win in goal. The Spartans are on the road at Coon Rapids on Tuesday night.



The Spartan boys’ basketball improved their record to 5-0 as they won their third game of the week with a thrilling 76-65 win at St. Paul Como High School. Jake Binley continued his impressive senior season with 41 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.

After the opening tip, the Spartans jumped out to an early ten-point lead but trailed 30-31 at halftime as Como battled back. Beginning the second half, the Spartans’ adjustments put additional defensive pressure on Como. Isaiah Robinson and Jonah Milbrandt made key defensive plays to slow the Como offense while Tyler Walker drained two long three point shots to spread the lead. Junior Milton Carnes added 14 points and 6 rebounds in a steady all-around performance.

The boys open conference play at home Tuesday night at 7:00 against North St. Paul high school in what will be a battle of two the conference’s top senior players.

The JV team bettered their record to 4-0 with a 67-39 win.


The girls basketball pulled out another win Friday night after a quick turn around game from a Thursday night game. The team was plagued by turnovers early, but finished the 1st half with a run to take a 27-23 lead at half. Great defense and better patience in the 2nd half gave Simley a quick 10 point lead. Simley held the opponent to 16 points in the 2nd half. The final score was

The Spartans go on the road again next Tuesday to play Cooper who is currently ranked #1 in class 3A. Go Spartans.

The fans were treated to mini half-time concert by the Simley Trash Can Band. Dressed in their unique Holiday attire they put on a outstanding performance. Thank you to the band and Kayla for organizing and showing off their talents. Click the following link to view the performance:

The Simley wrestling team just missed winning the Minnesota Christmas Tournament. 35 teams competed in Rochester in the toughest tournament in the state of Minnesota. All the top teams from all classes attended the tournament.  It came down to the last match of the tournament to decide the Champion. Simley got edged out of first place by half a point by Anoka. Simley placed 8 wrestlers in the top 8 and scored at 12 of the 14 weight classes.

PSAT scores have arrived!  Please pick them up in the counseling office either

before or after school.  See your counselor if you have any questions.

 

Student Parking Lot- Only students with a Simley parking pass are allowed to park in the student lot. If you do not have a pass, you must park off campus. Students found parked in the lot with a pass may be ticketed, booted etc. See Ms. Sievert in the main office if you have questions.


Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
