The Gymnastics Team took 4th place last night at the Varsity Conference meet with a 127.225. Top finishers were Kylie Seeling 8th on vault, Zoe Stone 10th on Floor and Morgan Johnson 10th on Bars, 9th on Vault and Floor, and 7th on Beam and in the All-Around.


The Simley Alpine Ski Team competed in their section meet yesterday at Wild Mountain.  Emmit Nelson took third place overall in the boys race and qualified for the State Meet next Wednesday at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, MN.  We wish Emmit the best as represents the Spartans at State. Sarah Anaya also had a good race finishing 24th overall in the girls race.  She was just 7 places and less than six tenths of a second from qualifying for State.

The Simley Boys Hockey Team erased a two-goal deficit and won 6-4 over North St. Paul on Thursday night. They celebrated Senior Night, honoring 10 players and two managers, improving to 16-7-1 overall as James Royce made 42 saves.


The Simley Wrestling Team finished their conference season 7-0 Thursday night. Simley defeated the Hastings Raiders 56-10. Simley dominated the dual meet from start to finish. Simley won 12 of the 14 matches.

This was Simley's 17th conference championship in a row. Simley has now won 118 consecutive conference matches.

 

Jamie Warrick and Jake Binley for their NHS project are planning a Food Drive for Neighbors Inc. on February 13th at the hockey game against South St. Paul. Jake Binley’s food drive is going to be Feb.27 at the Spartan vs Mahtomedi basketball game. They are hoping to have parents and students donate non-perishable food items when they come for the JV or Varsity games. A donation table will be at both events. Any donation allows you to enter in a drawing to win a $25 hometown meats gift card.

Additionally, they will be taking cash donations for those that want to help out; chuck-a-puck fund proceeds will be donated as well.

The Inver Grove Heights Baseball Assoc is currently accepting registrations for the upcoming 2018 VFW/Legion season. Keep playing and improving all summer long with Coach Hendrikson and his staff. Are you still bursting with Bold North pride and just don't know what to do with yourself now that the Super Bowl is over? What could be more Minnesotan that a meat raffle???? Come to the SSP VFW on Saturday between 12 and 4pm and show your true Minnesota spirit with a meat raffle! Also delicious tacos, also our lax team is awesome and needs our support!!

 

CALLING ALL ACTORS!

Auditions for the Spring Musical, Wizard of Oz, will be on Monday, February 12th and Tuesday, February 13th. Sign up at Middle School Office or in front of the Performing Arts Center for either Monday or Tuesday (not both days). Callbacks, will be on Wednesday, February 14th at 4 p.m. Please see Mr. Davis or the Community Education office (651-306-7870) if you have any questions.

 

The Simley Trap (not track) team will be having a registration/parent meeting on Tuesday?,? February 13th from 6-8 p.m. in Spartan Center at Simley High School.   

6-6:45 p.m. - ? Registration and merchandise table will be open

6:45-7:20 p.m. - ?Required meeting for all athletes and parents

7:20-8:00 p.m. - ?New athlete/parent meeting

Registration and merchandise table will be open until 8:00 p.m.?

Have any new, old or gently used tennis shoes that you don’t need?  Seniors Matthew Baumann and Nick Molstad are doing a shoe drive through an organization called Angel Bins during the month of February. If you have any shoes that you would like to donate, just drop them off in the Guidance office.



The Snowball Dance will take place on Saturday, February 24, 7:30-10:00 p.m. in Cahill Court. Tickets will be sold during all three lunches starting on Friday, February 16, and then continuing the week of the dance, February 20-23 for $10. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the dance for $15. If you would like to bring a guest from another school, guest contracts are available in the Guidance Office. Signed contracts are due back to Ms. Klukas no later than Wednesday, February 21.



February is Black History Month, which is about coming together as a community to remember and celebrate black history.  This year, Simley will be hosting the Sounds of Color, where students of all backgrounds can come together to celebrate black history through music. The Sounds of Color event will take place on Thursday, February 15th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the PAC. We encourage you to be a part of this celebration.


Seniors: Reminder that there is a $45 grad fee that is due March 23. The payment can be made through Feepay. If you have any questions, see Ms. Sievert in the main office.

 

 

2018 Spring Trap Season

The 2018 Spring Trap Season will be starting soon.  Trap is open to all 7-12th grade boys and girls who have completed or will have completed the MN DNR Firearms Safety Certification by March 1st.  Registration information will be coming out in the next couple of weeks.  Feel free to email questions to [email protected] or check the Simley Athletics Trap Page for additional information.(https://simleyathletics.com/teams/2233938/boys/trapshooting/varsity)


 

Student Parking Lot- Only students with a Simley parking pass are allowed to park in the student lot. If you do not have a pass, you must park off campus. Students found parked in the

lot with a pass may be ticketed, booted etc. See Ms. Sievert in the main office if you have questions.



Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
