The Spartans girls basketball team came away with a hard fought win at Tartan on Wednesday night. Simley started the game slow on the offensive end, however as the half continued they calmed down and had a couple nice runs. Simley went into half-time with a 22-17 lead. Passing the ball and being strong with the ball were keys to the second half and because of it the girls game away with a 54-42 win.  Simley had balanced scoring again with Guresi Mena leading with 16 points, followed by Sydney Runsewe and Sydney Stensgard each with 10 points, Tiwaah Danso and Bonita Franco with 9 and 5 points. Tiwaah Danso and the entire team did a great job rebounding in the game. Simley made 13 free throws for the game and went 11 for 14 in the 2nd half to secure a great win.

Last night the boy’s basketball team hosted Tartan high school in a conference matchup. The teams traded baskets early in the first half with sharpshooter Sam Vujovich scoring 12 first half points. Key offensive rebounds by Tartan allowed them to hold a 41-27 halftime lead. The Spartans battled back in the second half to keep the margin the same, but it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit. Isaiah Robinson and Jake Binley led the Spartans in scoring with 19 each. The final score was Simley 62 - Tartan 77.

Its Senior Night for the boys basketball team Friday night, the Spartans host Hill Murray. The JV game is at 5:30 and the Varsity plays at 7:00.  Senior players will be recognized and concessions will be selling Cane’s Chicken and toast.  Let's fill the stands!
