Opportunities for Parents
Academy of Powerful Parents (APP)
ISD 199's Academy of Powerful Parents (APP) provides families with the knowledge and skills to ensure their children achieve their full potential. Classes focus on how parents can partner with our schools and the community to best support and advocate for their children. District families with children in preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade are invited to attend the free six-class series each year, which includes a pizza dinner and childcare at every meeting. For more information about APP,
click here to visit the Academy of Powerful Parents (APP) webpage.
Versatrans Bus Tracking App for Parents
Inver Grove Heights Schools parents can use the Versatrans My Stop™ app to track their child's bus. The app gives families more precise arrival times and late bus alerts to help them plan their mornings and afternoons and limit the amount of time students are at the bus stop.
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
The Inver Grove Heights Early Learning Center, located in the same lot as Hilltop Elementary School, offers classes for children birth to age 5 and their parents. Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) classes and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classes focus on connecting parents with their children, research-based parenting techniques, and other parents to set every family up for lifelong success. Educators trained in early childhood development also help young children develop language and communication, learning, social-emotional, and motor skills in a play-based, learning-rich environment.
Family Support Team
The Inver Grove Heights Schools Early Learning Program offers a Family Support Team for parents with children up to 7 years old. The team of licensed parent educators and staff trained in early childhood development meet with families one-on-one to address individual concerns. The team is available to visit the family's home or another location of the family's choosing.
