Simley students selected for the Gustavus Adolphus Honor BandSimley High School Marching Band students had their last performance of the school year on October 30. The band participated in the Anoka Halloween Grande Parade for the 22nd time in program history. While at the parade, the students saw performances from six other high school marching bands, and seniors said their farewells to Simley Marching Band.

"This was such a bittersweet moment for these 19 amazing seniors. They have given so much to this program, some as many as seven years,” Simley High School Band Director Kevin Robinson said. “I'm proud of the leadership they have given over the last few years, and they should be proud of the legacy they leave behind for our marching band program."

On the following Monday, three Simley High School band students participated in the 34th Annual Bjorling Music Festival at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. The festival featured 120 top students from around the state and from 40 different high schools. Zainab Adebayo, Tyler Janey, and Grace Raab spent the day rehearsing and learning from professionals. The day concluded with a concert at 7:00 PM, which was livestreamed.

"As a director, it was so special to have many other Simley band students watching the livestream of Grace, Tyler, and Zainab that evening and supporting their bandmates," Mr. Robinson said.

Congratulations to the Simley Marching Band on an outstanding season, and great job to Zainab, Tyler, and Grace on their selection for and performances in the Bjorling Music Festival.
