Throughout the spring, students in the Girls on the Run programs at Hilltop Elementary School and Pine Bend Elementary School have been building confidence and learning strategies for a healthy life with curriculum that incorporates running. This May, students began practicing for the annual Twin Cities Girls on the Run 5K. They did a practice 5K with their running buddies, which included parents, teachers, relatives, and friends. They were also cheered on by Spartan Kids’ Care students with homemade signs. Students collected stickers for each lap they completed and got to run through finish line tape at the end of their run!
The Twin Cities Girls on the Run 5K will be held at Normandale Community College this June. Hilltop and Pine Bend students will run with more than 3,000 third- through eighth-grade girls from the metro area. They will run their 5K on Saturday, June 4, with Pine Bend runners starting at 8:00 AM and Hilltop runners starting at 10:30 AM. Good luck, students!
