Indoor Walking Program

ISD 199 Community Education's Indoor Walking Program is held at Inver Grove Heights Middle School, 8167 Cahill Avenue in Inver Grove Heights, during the typical winter months. The program provides access to IGH Middle School for residents who are interested in walking around the school during colder months. Walking is NOT available at Simley High School.

This program is only available to Inver Grove Heights/ISD 199 residents who are age 18 or older.

Winter Indoor Walking Hours:

Monday through Friday
5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Indoor walking is not available on school holidays or breaks.
The Indoor Walking Program for 2023-2024 will be open November 1, 2023, through March 22, 2024.

Register for the Program

  • Click here to register online. The document linked here will also be available if you register in-person at the ISD 199 District Office, 2990 80th Street East.
  • Complete and sign the program application and waiver.
  • Return your completed application/waiver to the ISD 199 District Office, either in-person or via mail:
    • In-person: Register in-person at the ISD 199 District Office, 2990 80th Street East in Inver Grove Heights, during business hours, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Your application and waiver can also be dropped off in the building's dropbox, to the right of the main entrance, at Door 16.
    • Mail: Register via mail by mailing your completed application and waiver to the ISD 199 District Office, Attn: Barb Pierce.
  •  If your application is accepted, your walking program badge will be mailed to you within 5 business days.

 
 Guidelines & Rules

For the safety of all participants, students, and employees in the building, we appreciate your cooperation in following the program guidelines and rules:

  • The program is only available on days when school is in session. If Inver Grove Heights Schools or Inver Grove Heights Middle School is closed due to inclement weather or other reasons, the walking program will not be available.
  • Enter the building through Door 21.
  • Wear indoor shoes. Participants are encouraged to bring separate walking shoes.
  • No food or beverages, except water, are allowed while walking.
  • Do not leave your belongings unattended. We do not have an area for coats/personal items. It is your responsibility to carry these with you or lock them in your vehicle.
  • Help us keep our school clean. Do not leave garbage or trash lying around. There are waste receptacles throughout the facility.
  • Help us keep our school safe by reporting any suspicious activity .
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult. No children under age 18 are allowed in the facility without an adult.
