This November, Inver Grove Heights Middle School brought all of the school’s Trimester 1 Spartan of the Month winners together with their families for a recognition breakfast. Students and their families enjoyed cinnamon rolls, and staff had an opportunity to tell families about the great work their children are doing.
Each month, IGH Middle School staff nominate students to be a Spartan of the Month. Students are recognized for their academic and social-emotional successes and earn Spartan Tickets. The school promotes positive behaviors through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which teaches students the school’s expectations for positive behaviors and rewards students who demonstrate them. Students earn Spartan Tickets that can be combined and turned in to staff for rewards like open gym time.
To recognize all of the Spartans of the Month winners from first trimester, IGH Middle School staff invited students and their families to a recognition breakfast. While families and students ate breakfast, staff talked to families about each student’s successes this trimester. Staff recognized students for their achievements as well as their progress throughout the first trimester of school.
The breakfast also featured a presentation to recognize every Spartan of the Month student and provide them with a Spartan Ticket for a reward of their choice.
Congratulations to this trimester’s 23 Spartan of the Month winners! IGH Middle School staff are looking forward to celebrating winners during second and third trimester as well.
