On their last day of school, Simley High School seniors put on their caps and gowns and walked the hallways of their former schools as part of a years-long Inver Grove Heights Schools tradition.
Seniors walked through the middle school and then took buses to their former elementary schools. The walkthroughs gave seniors a chance to say goodbye to all of the people who helped them reach this milestone. Students and staff greeted them with applause and cheers. Some seniors stopped to hug and high-five former teachers and younger students they had developed connections with during their time in ISD 199. Seniors who returned to Salem Hills Elementary School were paired up with a graduating kindergartener as a symbolic passing of the torch from those graduating to those just beginning school.
Congratulations to the Simley Class of 2023, and good luck to them as they take their next step into the future!
En su último día de clases, los estudiantes de último año de Simley High School se pusieron sus togas y birretes y caminaron por los pasillos de sus antiguas escuelas como parte de una tradición de años de Inver Grove Heights Schools.
Los estudiantes del último año caminaron por la escuela intermedia y luego tomaron autobuses a sus antiguas escuelas primarias. Los recorridos les dieron a los adultos mayores la oportunidad de despedirse de todas las personas que los ayudaron a alcanzar este hito. Los estudiantes y el personal los recibieron con aplausos y vítores. Algunos estudiantes de último año se detuvieron para abrazar y chocar los cinco con ex maestros y estudiantes más jóvenes con los que habían desarrollado conexiones durante su tiempo en ISD 199. Los estudiantes de último año que regresaron a Salem Hills Elementary School fueron emparejados con un estudiante de kindergarten que se graduaba como un paso simbólico de la antorcha de aquellos que se graduaron a los que recién comienzan la escuela.
