ENROLL ONLINE TODAY
Families enrolling students in kindergarten for 2023-2024 (current school year) or 2024-2025 (next school year) can now complete the enrollment process online. PLEASE NOTE: If your student does not live within ISD 199 district boundaries, you must complete a Non-Resident Open Enrollment Application and be notified that your application was accepted before you can enroll your child online.

Kindergarten Enrollment Requirements

Minnesota requirements for kindergarten entrance are:
  • AGE. Child must be 5 years of age by September 1 of the year they will start kindergarten.
  • IMMUNIZATIONS. Child must have all required immunizations to enter school (unless parents have filed a medical exemption signed by a healthcare provider or a notarized conscientious objection signed by the parent/guardian). Click here for more information about immunizations.
  • EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING. Child must have an early childhood screening before starting kindergarten. Appointments can be made any time between age 3 and the start of kindergarten, but it is recommended that screening be completed before the age of 4. Screenings are done at the Inver Grove Heights Early Learning Center at 3203 68th Street East (next to Hilltop Elementary). Visit the Early Learning webpage or call 651-306-7520 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
  • PROOF OF AGE DOCUMENT. Child must have accepted identification. Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or other verification of their legal name and birth date when registering your child for ISD 199 schools.

Open Enrollment (for families who live outside ISD 199 boundaries)

If you do not live in ISD 199 and are interested in enrolling in one of the ISD 199 schools, please complete the enrollment process and a Minnesota Open Enrollment Form. Click here for a Minnesota Open Enrollment form.

Intra-district Transfers (for residents who want their child to attend an ISD 199 elementary school that is different from their home school)

The Intra-district Transfer Process for elementary schools provides the opportunity for District 199 families to request to have students attend a school other than the one assigned by attendance boundaries. Click here to see which school your child would attend based on residence. If the transfer is approved, transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
