Committee & Advisory Council Descriptions
Wellness Committee: The purpose of this committee is to ensure a school environment that enhances student academic performance and increase student attendance through health and wellness promotion. The committee, to the extent possible, will reflect the diversity of the district and include teachers, parents, support staff, students and other community residents.
Gifted and Talented Advisory Council: The Gifted and Talented Advisory Council provides an opportunity for active community participation in supporting and understanding the district’s gifted and talented programs K-12. The council provides input to the Department of Learning and administration on gifted/talented programming efforts that support district and board goals, policies and initiatives.
Community Education Advisory Council: This committee meets six times during the school year and consists of School Board, district staff and residents who are interested in supporting the district's birth-senior programming. Applications will be accepted for those residents living in Inver Grove Heights.
Special Education Advisory Council: This district-wide council is to act as an advisory body to the district through the Director of Special Services on behalf of students receiving special education services. The council will support the district's mission by serving the individual needs of each eligible child by providing access to appropriate services to make progress towards meeting their annual goals.
American Indian Parent Committee: The purpose of the American Indian Committee is to assure parent participation in providing programs and services for American Indian students. The Parent Committee will also oversee the development and implementation of the educational plan. Parent Advisory Committee membership is open to all parents/guardians of American Indian Education students. Secondary students are also welcome to serve on the committee.
