Attention Parents: This is a reminder that the deadline to fix any trimester 3 scheduling issues is March 1st. There will be no changes made once the trimester begins.

Also a reminder that teacher requests and convenience changes will not be honored. Trimester 3 schedules can now be viewed on Campus Portals.



Congratulations to the Boys Hockey team!  Thanks to 26 saves by James Royce and goals by Trent Peterson, Jakob Myers, Shane Prifrel and Robby Watson, the Simley Boys Hockey team rallied for a 4-3 win over arch rival South St. Paul on Tuesday. The Spartans finish the regular season 17-7-1 which is the best record in the program’s history!!



A group of nine seniors are hosting Relay For Life on Friday April 27th, 2018, here at Simley High School. They would like to encourage all students, staff, and community members to participate in the event. You can find more information on the official website (https://tinyurl.com/simleyrelay) and social media accounts which are located on handouts that can be found in Ms. Kimble’s office, Ms. Erdman’s office, the main office, and on the NHS board. Together we can beat cancer once and for all!



Attention Juniors and Seniors interested in being on the Prom Committee. Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 27 right after school in Mrs. Martin’s classroom (ALP), EA 211.  Please see Mrs. Martin with questions or if you are unable to make the meeting.      



A scholarship seminar will be held TOMORROW, Thursday, February 15th @ 9:30 AM in the Student Center. The director of The College Place, a local nonprofit organization, will be presenting strategies, tips, and tricks for getting scholarships. All seniors are welcome to attend- sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble.




ATTENTION FALL 2018 SIMLEY SOCCER PLAYERS

·BOYS SOCCER:  Please mark your calendars for Coach Dayus’ summer soccer camp on Monday, June 18 (9-11 am) and Wednesday, June 20 (9-11 am). The top 18 players will then be invited to a three-game tournament June 23-24 at Rich Valley.

·GIRLS SOCCER:  Please mark your calendars for Coach Austin’s summer soccer camp July 9-July 12 from 10 am-Noon.

·More information about both of these camps will be given at the coach/player meeting in April.

The gymnastics team will host the 4A section Meet on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.  Ms. Walsh needs helpers to set up the gymnastics equipment in main gym on Friday night and Saturday night from 8-10pm. If you would like to help and get a pizza lunch on Tuesday @ school let her know to get on the "super helpers" list!  


 

Spartan Girls Basketball Senior night this Friday, February 16!  Courtney, Guresi and Kayla will be honored after the JV game and before varsity warm-ups start so come early and dress in black as we support the team with a Senior Black Out!!  Please join the team in the lobby after the 7pm varsity game to celebrate these special players!  All are welcome!



Congratulations to the Simley Dance Team, as they will be advancing to the State Dance Team Tournament in both Jazz and High Kick!  The State Tournament will take place this Friday, February 16th and Saturday, February 17th at the Target Center.  The AA Competition begins at 2 p.m. both days.  Come cheer on and support the Simley Dance Team!     


 

For their NHS project , Jamie Warrick and Jake Binley, are planning a Food Drive for Neighbors Inc. on February 13th at the hockey game against South St. Paul. Jake Binley’s food drive is going to be Feb.27 at the Spartan vs Mahtomedi basketball game. They are hoping to have parents and students donate non-perishable food items when they come for the JV or Varsity games. A donation table will be at both events. Any donation allows you to enter in a drawing to win a $25 hometown meats gift card.

Additionally, they will be taking cash donations for those that want to help out; chuck-a-puck fund proceeds will be donated as well.

Have any new, old or gently used tennis shoes that you don’t need?  Seniors Matthew Baumann and Nick Molstad are doing a shoe drive through an organization called Angel Bins during the month of February. If you have any shoes that you would like to donate, just drop them off in the Guidance office.



The Snowball Dance will take place on Saturday, February 24, 7:30-10:00 p.m. in Cahill Court. Tickets will be sold the week before the dance: Tuesday, February 20 through Friday, February 23 for $10. They will be $15 at the door on Saturday, February 24. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the dance for $15. If you would like to bring a guest from another school, guest contracts are available in the Guidance Office. Signed contracts are due back to Ms. Klukas no later than Wednesday, February 21.



February is Black History Month, which is about coming together as a community to remember and celebrate black history.  This year, Simley will be hosting the Sounds of Color, where students of all backgrounds can come together to celebrate black history through music. The Sounds of Color event will take place on Thursday, February 15th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the PAC. We encourage you to be a part of this celebration.


Seniors: Reminder that there is a $45 grad fee that is due March 23. The payment can be made through Feepay. If you have any questions, see Ms. Sievert in the main office.

 

 

Student Parking Lot- Only students with a Simley parking pass are allowed to park in the student lot. If you do not have a pass, you must park off campus. Students found parked in the

lot with a pass may be ticketed, booted etc. See Ms. Sievert in the main office if you have questions.



Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
