Congratulations to the Simley Lacrosse team, which closed out the regular season on Wednesday night with a 14-10 road win vs. Minneapolis Washburn. Peter Gorman and Jakob Myers both had four goals, while Jacob Hageman and Tommy Arends had two goals each. The Spartans finish the regular season with a 4-7 record, 3-3 in conference play, and will open the playoffs next week.

Congratulations to the Simley Boys Golf team who locked up 3rd place in the Metro East Conference with a solid 318 stroke team performance at Keller Golf Course on Wednesday. Highlights included a best ever 76 in competition by Freshman Zach Painter, a gutsy 79 by Senior Jamie Warrick, a solid 80 by 8th Grader Josh Painter, and a grinding 83 by Junior Ben Borchard. Capturing season-long honors in the Metro East were All-Conference recipients Jamie Warrick and Zach Painter, while Seniors James Royce and Evan Schultz and Ben Borchard were named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Girls Golf Team - 2018 Conference Champions!!

What a conference season it was for the Simley girls golf team, proof that it's not how you start, but how you finish that matters most. Simley entered the conference tournament one point behind Hill-Murray, who jumped out to a quick lead over the Spartans in the first week of the season after a Simley loss to Hastings in the first match of the year and a second place finish for the Spartans in the mid-conference tournament. From that point forward the team, and what a team it is, never lost another conference match. The Spartans top nine players all played an essential role in the teams success. All playing in key matches this year, all pushing each other to be better, and all encouraging each other to succeed. The Spartan nine of Seniors Britta Iverson, Kylie Seeling, Mackenzie Sullivan, and Abby Stein, Juniors Rachael Wolfe, and Molly Illetschko, Sophomores Jordan Juers, and Anna Ahern, and Eighth Grader Isabella McCauley all deserve recognition for this championship.  In the conference final all of that work and support paid off with the Spartans best team score of the season, and a seven stroke victory over Hill-Murray that sealed the conference title. Senior Britta Iverson, Senior Kylie Seeling, and Junior Rachael Wolfe had their best rounds of the season on Wednesday, while eighth grader Isabella McCauley put the finishing touches on the Spartans score with an even par 72. Junior Rachael Wolfe and Eighth Grader Isabella McCauley both earned all-conference honors for the season, with McCauley winning Player of the Year honors for the second straight. season. Congratulations to the entire Simley golf team for another great year, and back-to-back Metro-East Titles.
