Congratulations to the Simley Girls Volleyball team who followed up their wonderful 4-1 Cannon Fall Invitational record over the weekend with a straight set victory Monday night against Park. The Spartans demonstrated their proficiency in all parts of the game ranging from a textbook performance in the first and third sets to a gritty two-point overtime win in the second as they refused to give Park the slightest hope as all thirteen members of the squad contributed significantly. The true hero of the match, however, may have been the coach as he had an extra jersey in his bag for one of the seniors who was dealing with a substantial cat odor problem.

With Fall and the start of school, families are contemplating their older student’s future. Seniors in high school are starting to make decisions on further education and families are wondering how to make that happen. Are you aware that Inver Grove Heights has a foundation that raises, manages, and awards scholarship funds to Simley graduating seniors? The foundation is called the Inver Grove Heights B.E.S.T. Foundation and this past year we were able to award 117 scholarships totaling $168,628.00. We’d like to invite you to partner with us through volunteerism, donations, and attendance at our events. In the spring we will hold a Dinner and Silent Auction and a May Day 5K walk/run. Next summer, we will hold a golf tournament. If you are contemplating where to direct your United Way funds through work, consider selecting the Inver Grove Heights B.E.S.T. Foundation. Many companies will match contributions, so remember to ask for a match if available! To learn more about the Foundation feel free to visit our website at www.ighbestfoundation.com or email us at [email protected]. Go Spartans!

Nicole Perron and Rachel Wolfe are collecting donations for their senior NHS project. They are collecting school supplies, art supplies, and books. There will be a bin in the front office for you to place your donated items. Thank you!

Attention SENIORS:

It's not too early to begin thinking about graduation.  Counselors will be meeting with all seniors over the next few months to discuss important information regarding your senior year so watch for a pass from your individual counselor.  If you visit the Simley webpage, there is a special link just for seniors, with important dates for the year as well as a link to order your cap/gown & diploma.  The deadline to order is December 3rd but we would appreciate you taking care of this as soon as possible.
