The Gymnastics team lost their meet last night to Tartan.  Final score was 119.05 -108.25 Top finishers were:  Autumn Remackel 2nd on vault and 3rd on floor and Chrissa Mueller also 3rd on floor!  The spartan travel to NSP next week!



Congratulations to the Boys Swimming & Diving team for their 98-69 win against South St Paul last night.  Individual winners were as followed: Gabe Ukestad won the 200 freestyle; Andrew Perrin won the 200 Individual Medley; Michael Schmalz won the 50 freestyle; Marioys Makar won the 1-meter diving; Sam Montague won the 100 freestyle; Nico Losinski won the 500 freestyle and the 100 backstrokes; the team of Nico Losinski, Ethan Jie, Michael Schmalz, and Eric Petschl won the 200 Medley Relay; the team of Brandon Petryszyn, Ben Briguet, Michael Schmalz, and Andrew Perrin won the 200 Free relay; and the team of Gabe Ukestad, Brandon Petryszyn, Ethan Jie, and Nico Losinski won the 400 Free relay.  The Spartans next meet is Tuesday at Hudson.



The Spartans Boys Hockey team picked up their 3rd win of the season (3-3-1 overall) downing the Scots Wednesday night at historic Charles Schultz Arena in St. Paul. Five different Spartans scored including Jayar Leudke with his first career varsity goal. Also getting his first career Varsity win was goaltender Jacob Erickson stopping 13 of 14 shots in the win. The Spartans won 5-1.



Students who took the PSAT in October- there will be a score interpretation session on Monday, December 17th @ 10:45 AM in the Student Center. You will receive your PSAT score report, learn what your scores mean, and learn about next steps. All students who took the exam will receive a pass inviting them to the session on Monday morning.



Upcoming College Visits:

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

Attention Parents of students taking an AP class:

AP exam registration will be held in March. AP exam fees are $55 per exam and $12 per exam for students on free and reduced lunch.

Or, paper applications can be picked up in the guidance office.

Qualifying for Free and Reduced lunch is the only way to receive the reduced rate, so we would like to get everyone that qualifies, qualified ahead of time.

Choir will be selling personalized and hand made ornaments for $2 during lunch until December 18th!




A Rubik's Cube 4x4 competition will be held on Wednesday, December 19th in the Student Center.  Students can participate only during their study hall hour. Please sign up with your study hall teacher if you are going to participate in the Simley competition. 4x4 Rubik's Cubes will be provided and we will use regulation timers. There is a limit of 35 students per hour. It will be held all hours except hour 3, and will start at 11:45 for hour 5. Only competitors should be attending. Any questions, please see Ms. Parker in Room W215. Sign up ends on December 18th.




The Power of Change is a fundraiser set up by Logan McMonigal and August Hewitt for their National Honors Society senior project. Donations will help raise money to give a trained service dog to a veteran suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). Every bit helps, no matter how big or small a donation. The fundraiser will start Wednesday, December 5 and end Wednesday, December 19. Donations will be collected in 7th hour classes.

The 7th hour that donates the most will be awarded with a pizza party to celebrate the start of winter break on Thursday, December 20. There are posters taped up around if you would like more information.



Simley Girls High School Bowling Club:  If you are interested in bowling for the Simley Girls High School Bowling Club,  the Girls 2019 season will begin in January. Any level of bowler is welcome. Please contact Gary Salzman (coach) at [email protected]   for more information.  Practices will start mid-December.

 


Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
