Congratulations to the girls Basketball team for an outstanding weekend. On Friday night, the team played Hastings. The team was lead by their three juniors Zareia, Tiwaah and Sydney with 17, 16 and 15 points respectively.The Spartans beat Hastings 67-37.  On Saturday, the Spartans took on East Ridge. Simley was led by Sydney Stensgard with 22 points and Zareia Chevre with 17 points. They beat East Ridge 54-46.



Congratulations to the Boys’ Swimming & Diving team for their incredible  2nd place finish at the Maroon & Gold Invitational at the University of Minnesota this weekend.  Athletes who scored points were as follows: Gabe Ukestad took 11th in the 200 free & 12th in the 100 free; Brandon Petryszyn took 17th in the 200 free & 12th in the 100 back; Michael Schmalz took 2nd in the 200 IM. & 2nd in the 100 breaststroke;  Joseph Waska took 8th in the 200 I.M. & 12th in the 100 breaststroke; Ben Briguet took 14th in the 200 I.M & 17th in the 100 free; Eric Petschl took 9th in the 50 free & 8th in the 100 free; Sam Montague took 11th in the 50 free; Marioys Makar took 10th in the 1-meter diving, Austin Penttila took 19th in the 1-meter diving. Ethan Jie took 3rd in the 500 free & 7th in the 100 breaststroke; Nico Losinski took 4th in the 500 free & 5th in the 100 back;  Andrew Perrin took 5th place in the 200 free and was the Invitational Champion in the 500 free, and Garrett Kaiser was the Invitational Champion in 1-meter diving. Relay teams that scored points were as follows: the team of Brandon Petryszyn, Joseph Waska, Sam Montague, and Steven Hernandez placed 12th in the 200 Medley Relay; the team of  Steven Hernandez, Joseph Waska, Owen Lucas, and Hunter Dilla placed 14th in the 200 Free relay; the team of Nico Losinski, Sam Montague, Ethan Jie and Brandon Petryszyn placed 6th in the 400 Free Relay; the team of Nico Losinski, Ethan Jie, Michael Schmalz, and Ben Briguet placed  5th in the 200 Medley relay; the team of Michael Schmalz, Eric Petschl, Gabe Ukestad, and Andrew Perrin placed 2nd in the 200 Free relay; and the team of Gabe Ukestad, Eric Petschl, Ben Briguet and Andrew Perrin placed 4th in the 400 free relay.  The Spartans next meet is Tuesday, Jan. 8th against Orono & Mound Westonka.

TONIGHT - Show your team spirit by joining us for a fundraiser to support Simley Boys Swim & Dive. Go to Chipotle at 1857 Robert Street in West St. Paul on Monday, January 7th between 4pm-8pm.  Bring in the FLYER, show it on your smartphone or just tell the cashier that you are supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to Simley Swim & Dive.  

 

TONIGHT - Boys Hockey monthly Blue Line Club Booster meeting will be held Monday, January 7 @ 7pm @ VMCC in Armory C.  All are welcome.

 


Upcoming College Visits:

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

On Friday, January 25th it will be Club Photo Day where we have a photographer from Lifetouch come to take photos of each group. They also have a unique opportunity of having a second photographer there to take photos of seniors who did not take a senior photo for any reason. If possible can this message go into the parent announcements?

 

 

 

Attention parents and guardians of seniors: If your student did not take and submit senior photos, but would still like to be in the yearbook, please contact Ms. Hensch ([email protected]) to reserve a photo time. Lifetouch will be at Simley on January 25th to take professional photos of seniors who want to be in the senior portrait section of the yearbook, but were unable to take photos on their own. This service is free of charge to all students. If your student did take senior photos but has not yet submitted them, please send them to [email protected].



Are you interested in meeting with your School Counselor or School Social Worker?   We are excited to let you know that you may now request an appointment via the Simley homepage.  No more waiting in the counseling office or trying to find one of them. Simply go to the sign-in link, which can be found on the left-hand sidebar of Simley's home page.  You may access this link via your phone or any computer, laptop or tablet.  This link will take you to a Google Form where you will enter your name, grade and best time to call you down.  It's that simple! Students should use this Google form for all reasons including mental health, academic, scheduling, etc.  There is also a sign-in kiosk located next to Ms. Wang's desk.  All information is confidential.   

 

Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
