The IMC, the Student Center and the Spartan Center will be closed all of 5th hour. You must stay in the cafeteria during your lunch period.

Attention all 10th, 11th and 12th grade students! The permission slips for the Courage Retreat are due TODAY. If interested, pick up the form in the Guidance Office.

This is a great opportunity to practice your leadership and communication skills. You must have a desire to help kids and have high energy! You also must be in good standing in all classes (C or higher grades) and no behavior or attendance concerns.  Finally, you must commit to interacting with middle school students rather than each other.

The retreat takes place on Friday, February 1 from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm.



Today is club photo day. Please report to the Spartan center at your designated photo time. Photo times will not be announced, so please be aware of the time and when your photo is being taken.



Seniors: If you still need a senior photo please report to the Spartan Center today during lunches. A photographer from Lifetouch will be here to take a professional senior photo for you free of charge.



The Gymnastics team lost a very close meet last night to So. St. Paul.  114.700-113.575

Top finishers were Bekkah Scufsa 1st on Vault and 2nd on Beam, Julia Myers 1st on Floor and 3rd on Bars, and Nicole Holleschau 1st on Floor and in the All Around.

Next home meet is next Thursday.



Congratulations to the Simley wrestling team for their win over Hastings last night 53-8. Simley finished the Metro East Conference conference duals 7-0 and won their 19th straight conference championship. Seniors Antonio Everett, Jacob Hageman, Esiquio Diaz, Freddy Rivera and Daniel Kerkvliet all recorded wins to keep the Spartans 125 conference win streak going.



Congratulations to the Boys’ Swimming & Diving team for their 102-79 win against Henry Sibley last night.  The team now has a 7-2 record for the season.  Individual wins were as follows; Gabe Ukestad won the 200 free; Andrew Perrin won the 200 IM, Eric Petschl won the 50 free; Garrett Kaiser won the 1-meter diving, Michael Schmalz won the 500 free & the 100 breaststroke; and Brandon Petryszyn won the 100 backstroke.  The team of Michael Schmalz, Nico Losinski, Andrew Perrin, and Eric Petschl won the 200 Medley Relay; the team of Hunter Dilla, Ben Briguet, Sam Montague, and Gabe Ukestad won the 200 Free Relay, and the team of Owen Lucas, Gabe Ukestad, Steven Hernandez, and Brandon Petryszyn won the 400 Free Relay.  The Spartans next meet is True Team State tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at the University of Minnesota.



Teens for Jeans Drive - February 4th-February 22nd!!  Donate any size, gently used jeans for homeless shelters in the IGH community. Please drop the jeans off in the donation box located in the Guidance office.




Come Cheer on the Metro East Conference Champion Simley Dance Team this Saturday, January 26th at the 21st annual Simley Dance Team Invitational.  

The doors open at 9:30am with dances beginning at 10:00 a.m. sharp.   

A variety of concessions will be served and novelties will be available for purchase to reward your favorite dancer.   $8/adult and $6/students and seniors. No passes.




With the big chill coming in there is no better time to think about warm weather and being out on the golf course!!  Give yourself a break from cooking and mark your calendar for a Chipotle Fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Golf teams next Wednesday, January 30th from 4-8 PM (Robert Street Location in WSP).  We receive 33% of the proceeds, but need to meet a minimum amount before that kicks in, so please pass the word to your friends and family and let’s make this first fundraiser of the new year a huge success!!  Make sure to mention to the cashier that you are there to support Simley Golf. Go Spartans!




Attention 9-12th grade Baseball Players & Parents - Mark your calendars, there will be a preseason Simley Baseball meeting on Monday, February 11th at 7pm in the Simley Spartan Center.



Guest contracts for the Snowball dance which will be on Saturday, February 23rd are available in Ms. Wang's office. Guest tickets will not be sold until contracts are signed by Ms. Klukas. They are due back on or before Wednesday, February 20.




Upcoming College Visits:

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

During January, Erica Rettinger will be collecting school supplies in the Main office for Salem Hills for her NHS project. Any Donations are appreciated.



Seniors, please turn in your baby photos, senior photos, and senior survey by February 14th if you want to be in the senior section of the yearbook. Photos should be sent to [email protected]. Valentines Day is the last day the yearbook staff will be accepting these items. See Ms. Hensch if you have any questions.


 


Simley Trap Shooting Spring 2019 Key Dates and Information

Registration for the 2019 Spring Trap season will be open on Feb. 8th. Trap is open to all 7th-12th Grade Simley Students.

Below are some key dates for Returning or New athletes:

Tuesday, February 12:  Simley Spartan Center - 6:00 pm Parent information meeting (More time specific details to follow)

Friday, March 8th: Team Registration Deadline

Saturday, March 9th:            Pre –Season Primer and Lifetouch Photo event SSP Gun Club (More time specific details to follow)

Monday, April 1st :    Start of the Season

Saturday  April 13th:              Last day to complete Required Minnesota DNR Firearms Safety Certificate Field day(New Athletes)
