This is a reminder to all AP student to register for your AP exams. The next drawing for a free exam will be this Friday.  If you win the free exam, you will be reimbursed for the exam, so still plan to pay for your exams when you register. Register soon and good luck!



Attention all students, guidance counselors will be in classrooms this week presenting registration. If you request an appointment to see your counselor, please be aware that it may take a few days for your counselor to send a pass to see you.



Come out and support Jordan Boswell’s NHS Project on March 9th for suicide awareness. She will be showing the movie “Suicide: The Ripple Effect” starring Kevin Hines, in which he reflects on his suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge and advocates mental health awareness. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at lunches Monday March 4th through Thursday March 7th. All proceeds will go to the Strub Caulkins Center for Suicide Research. For more information, talk to Jordan Boswell about her project.

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team on their exciting 64-62 win over Hill Murray on Friday. The team is now Conference Champions!  They begin sections on Wednesday at 7pm here at Simley. They will be taking on the South St. Paul Packers. Tickets are $6 for students & $8 for Adults. Passes are not accepted.



Congratulations to the Boys’ Swimming & Diving team for their 2nd place finish at the Section 1A Championship this weekend.  Medal & point scorers were as follows; Brandon Petryszyn took 13th in the 200 free and 7th in the 100 back ; Eric Petschl took 4th in the 200 free & 8th in the 500 free (STATE QUALIFYING); Andrew Perrin took 8th in the 200 free & 3rd in the 500 free (STATE QUALIFYING); Joseph Waska took 9th in the 200 I.M. & 10th in the 100 Breaststroke; Dominick Olaes took 13thin the 200 I.M.& 13thin the 100 fly;  Michael Schmalz took 5thin the 200 I.M (STATE QUALIFYING) & 2ndi n the 100 breaststroke (STATE QUALIFYING); Ben Briguet took 15th in the 50 free & 13thin the 100 free; Sam Montague took 11thin the 50 free; Gabe Ukestad took 8th in the 50 free & 9th in the 100 free; Austin Penttila took 16th in 1-meter diving; Marioys Makar took 9th in 1-meter diving; Garrett Kaiser took 2nd in the 1-meter diving (STATE QUALIFYING); Ethan Jie took 7th in the 500 free (STATE QUALIFYING) & 4th in the 100 breaststroke; Eric Schroeder took 16th in the 100 back; Nico Losinski took 4thin the 100 back (STATE QUALIFYING) & a special congratulations to the 2019 Section Champion Nico Losinski for his 1st place finish in the 500 free (STATE QUALIFYING). The team of Nico Losinski, Michael Schmalz, Sam Montague, and Ben Briguet took 4th and qualified for State in the 200 Medley Relay; the team of Michael Schmalz, Gabe Ukestad, Sam Montague, and Eric Petschl took 4th and qualified for State in the 200 Free Relay; and the team of Eric Petschl, Gabe Ukestad, Andrew Perrin, and Nico Losinski took 5thand qualified for State in the 400 Free Relay.  The State Championships is this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and the University of Minnesota.



Congratulations to the Wrestling team. In addition to the team qualifying for state, Simley now has 10 individuals that qualified for the individual state tournament. Chase Deblaere, Ryan Sokol, Cael Berg, Antonio Everett, Gavin Nelson, Jake Hageman, Nolan Wanzek, Quayin Short, Bennett Tabor and Daniel Kerkvliet!



Would you like an opportunity to meet with representatives from over 80 local businesses, 2-year and 4-year colleges, technical training centers, military branches, and apprenticeships/trades? Join us to attend the Career and College Fair held in Hastings on Thursday, February 28th. Permission slips for the field trip can be found in the Career Center, Counseling Office, or Dean’s Office.



Seniors! Apply for a B.E.S.T. Foundation Scholarship today! One application to be considered for over 100 scholarships, available only to Simley students! Deadline is Monday, March 4th, no exceptions, so apply today! Please note, when completing the financial need portion, a screenshot must be uploaded to your application that includes your name and expected family contribution (EFC) number. The Wrestling team will be wrestling in the state tournament on Thursday, February 28th. The school is offering a fan bus to the first round which begins at 9 a.m.  If students are interested in riding the bus - Option #1-bus leaves here at 7:45 a.m. & return at 11:15 a.m. Students will back for 5th hour. Option #2-bus leaves at 7:45 a.m. & student finds their own ride home. Option #3-Student does not ride bus. To attend the tournament, students must turn in a permission slip and purchase a ticket for $10. Permission slips & tickets are available in the Activities office.



TONIGHT - Attention all students that are planning to join the Track team this year - There is a Track Parent/Athlete Meeting on Monday, 2/25 at 5 p.m. in the Simley IMC.  Contact Coach Schwanz, Coach Mensen or Coach Gerber if you have questions.

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

Teens for Jeans Drive -   February 4 - February 22

22nd!!  Donate any size, gently used jeans for homeless shelters in the IGH community. Please drop the jeans off in the donation box located in the Guidance office.

 


Simley Trap Shooting Spring 2019 Key Dates and Information

Registration for the 2019 Spring Trap season will be open on Feb. 8th. Trap is open to all 7th-12th Grade Simley Students.

Below are some key dates for Returning or New athletes:
