11th grade students: This Friday, March 15, is the deadline to turn in your ACT permission form. If this formed is not signed and returned to the main office, you will not be permitted to leave school after the ACT test is complete.  Forms are available in the main office.




Reminder to all students who are taking the ACT in April.

The deadline for the Doorway to College Seminar is coming. This is an ACT Test Prep Seminar which will be held at Simley on Saturday, March 16th from 9:00 until 3:00.  It is a strategy

based seminar where students will learn tips to improve all subtests, reduce test anxiety.

and more.  Students wilL also receive materials for home practice.

Students, Are you looking for a summer job? Parents, are you looking for an opportunity to support your student in getting a first summer job, or changing a work experience? Wentworth Library in West St. Paul is hosting a Teen Job Fair!  Businesses across Dakota County are assembling to hire employees for summer, seasonal, and long-term employment. The Teen Job Fair will be on Wednesday, March 20th from 3pm-7pm. Simley High School hosted the Region 3AA MSHSL Instrumental Solo & Ensemble on March 12th.  Four schools were represented: Henry Sibley, Richfield, St. Thomas Academy and Simley. Each band student or ensemble prepared a musical selection and presented it to a judge.  They were graded in the following areas: tone quality, intonation, rhythm, balance and blend, technique, interpretation, articulation and execution.

Simley had 102 students participating in 86 entries. 57 students received a “Superior” rating; 44 students received a “Excellent” rating; and 1 student received “Comments Only”.

Congratulations to the following students who received “Best of Site” from their judges: Daniel Williams on Trumpet and Taylor Riess on Bass Clarinet.

Thank you to all the parents and students who helped make this event a success!  We could not do this without instructors, accompanists, site monitors, runners, tally keepers, set up and tear down crews and the support of our parents.

 

 


The Gymnastics team had their banquet and had some very deserving honors.  Congratulations to Autumn Remackel for being named All-conference on vault and Honorable mention on floor.  Skyla Ward was also named honorable mention on floor. Additionally, Mrs. Young -Dahl was named the Section Head coach of the year!  Finally, the gymnastics team placed 2nd in the section with an average GPA 3.875, we are very proud of our team's success in the classroom!



Reminder to Girls Basketball Players - TODAY, March 13th is the deadline for registering for the banquet.




Attention juniors and seniors interested in prom committee: We will have our first  meeting on Thursday, March 14th in Mrs. Martin's classroom, EA 211. If you have any questions or are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Martin.




March 18-April 30, 2019

Students will be participating with a student service learning project in Ms. Parker’s Room before and after school in W215 to sell for $10 H20 for Life T-Shirts for a fundraiser for Badi

Dhani School - Health, Nutrition & Education in India. The proposed project will be an integrated effort on improving health and nutrition awareness among children. Availability of safe drinking water, Bio sand filters and regular check-ups to monitor the health of the students. This school has already received water and sanitation facilities with the support of H2O for Life.

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

REMINDER  - The IMC, the Student Center and the Spartan Center are closed all of 5th hour. You must stay in the cafeteria during your lunch period.




Seniors: Your Grad Fee of $45 is due March 22. You can pay this fee through your FeePay account or by cash or check in the main office. See Ms. Sievert in the main office for any questions.


Attention German Club - There is a German Club meeting on Friday, March 15th at 7:15 a.m. in Mr. Mitchell’s room.




2019 Simley Trap Registration Deadline:

Friday March 15th is the deadline for registration for the Simley Trap Team. All returning athletes have been sent invitations from the Clay Target league to complete the online registration process. Some athletes have had difficulty receiving these emails and you should check your spam folders. If you were planning to register and either have not received the league registration email or attended the parent meeting in February, please contact us at the [email protected] and request the Clay Target League registration information. For any athletes who are new to the team and you were not able to make the Primer on Saturday March 9th, we will be contacting you to try to make this up prior to the first practice the first week of April. Simley Trap is open to students 7-12 grade who have completed the MN DNR Firearms Safety Certificate. Due to league requirements, once rosters are closed there will be no exceptions to add athletes. Thank you in advance for your attention to the pending deadline. Go Spartans!



Attention Junior and Seniors: Prom is Saturday, May 11th and will held on a riverboat on the St. Croix River in Stillwater. The Grand March will be held at Simley in the Performing Arts Center. The tickets will be $40 and include Grand March, dinner and the dance on the boat. More information to follow.




Attention Golfers, Spring is Almost Here!!

The first mandatory practice of the 2019 golf season will be on Monday, March 18th.  More information to come! Athletes must register through Feepay before the season starts to participate!  

The mandatory informational meeting for parents, athletes and coaches will be on Tuesday, March 19th at 6:00 PM in the Spartan Center at Simley High School for those wanting to try out for the boys or girls high school golf teams. Any student grades 7-12 is welcome to try out for the high school teams.




Spring sports registration is now available in Feepay.

Following are the start dates for high school Spring sports:

March 18 – Boys & Girls Golf (grades 7-12)

March 25 – Simley Boys Tennis (grades 7-12)

April 1 –     Boys Lacrosse (grades 7-12)

Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
