Reminder that we have an adjusted schedule today and students will be released at 11:05 a.m.


The Weight Room is closed after school today.



Any student who had artwork in the Art Show, please pick it up in the art rooms.  



Last night Simley wrapped up the Metro East Conference Track & Field Championships.

Highlights for the boys included:

Hope Adebayo winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles

Alec Frederick 5th in the 100 meter dash

Charlie Giese 5th in the 800 meter run

Bennett Tabor 3rd in the Discus

Girls Highlights included:

4x800 relay team of Crystal Bonilla Rios, Amelia Jessen, Jerryn Storm, and Laura Rydahl in 5th

4x200 relay team of Clara Thoemke, Ellie Rud, Lucy Matthews, and Rachel Anderson in 5th,

Emma Raab 5th in the 800

Aliah Jackson 2nd in the 100 and 5th in the 200

Conference champions:

4x100 Relay team of Kate Carlson, Aliah Jackson, Zoe Boughton, and Rachel Anderson

Sarah Anaya 1st in the 3200 and 2nd in the 1600

Abby Hepper 1st in the Shot Put and 2nd in the Discus

The Track & Field teams compete next Wednesday and Friday at Prior Lake for the Section Championships

The 2019 Metro East Conference Championship was held on Thursday at Highland National Golf Club in St. Paul. The event marked the end of another conference season for the Simley girls golf team, and what a season it was. Jordan Juers was named All Conference Honorable Mention. Rachael Wolfe, Reese McCauley and Isabella McCauley were named All Conference. 7th Grader Reese McCauley was named Conference Player of the year. The Spartans team score of 347 made them tournament champions, and team captains Lauren Henninger, Molly Illetschko, and Rachael Wolfe led their team in raising the conference trophy for the third straight season.  Congratulations to the Simley Girls Golf team! Yearbook distribution day is Tuesday, May 28th. Seniors are excused at 1:50, Juniors at 2:05, Sophomores at 2:10, and Freshman at 2:15. At your dismissal time please come to the North Gym to get your yearbook, get free juice and cookies, and sign yearbooks.  If you have not purchased a yearbook yet there will be a limited number available at the event.



2019 Simley Soccer Camp:  All Fall 2019 Simley soccer players please sign up for their summer soccer camp ASAP. The boys’ soccer camp runs from 9-11 AM on July 15-18.  The girls’ soccer camp runs from 10-12 PM on July 8-11. All camp information and registration details can be found on the Simley Soccer website (www.simleysoccer.com).  Open for players entering 8-12 grade in the fall of 2019.

 

2019 Simley Soccer Captains Practice:  Boys and Girls Captains Practice will be held the weeks of July 29 and August 5 with time to be determined.  Further information will be posted on the Simley Soccer website (www.simleysoccer.com ).  Open for players entering 8-12 grade in the fall of 2019

 

2019 Simley Soccer Tryouts:  Boys tryouts will be held from 9:30-11 AM and 3-4:30 PM on August 12-16, Mini Tournament: Saturday August 17 at Simley.  Team to be determined. Girls tryouts will be held from 8-9:30 AM (M-F) and 5-6:30 PM (M-Th) on August 12-16.  Scrimmages at Hastings on Saturday, August 17; players to be determined by Coach Austin.

Upcoming College Visits:

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center

It’s Summer College Road Trip time! Join us for 1, 2, 3, or all 4 days as we visit 8 different colleges and universities! This is an awesome opportunity to get on campus and learn about different college options! Open to grades 9-11 for free! Pick up an application and more information in the Career Center or Counseling Office!

Reminder to  Football Players - SDSU Team Camp registration forms are due by June 1st.  Please see Mr. Mensen or stop by the Activities office if you need the form.



Important PSEO deadline reminder:  If you are interested in PSEO for the 2019 - 2020 school year, you must complete a PSEO contract and return to your counselor by Thursday, May 30.  If you have not done this, you should make an appointment with your counselor as soon as possible. This includes all current PSEO students who wish to enroll in PSEO courses next year.



Attention Seniors - The Senior All Night Party Committee will be selling tickets during all lunches this week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Wednesday the 29th.  You may also send your money, (adult) t-shirt size and young photo to Lisa Henninger 8579 Brewster Ave., IGH 55076 BEFORE June 2nd.

 


Attention all girls interested in gymnastics. Information for the summer gymnastics camp is available in Ms. Walsh's classroom EA 208 or from Ms. Young-Dahl in the Dean's office.



Attention All 7th through 12th grade students that are interested in bowling for the Simley Co-Ed High School Bowling Club.  Our Co-Ed 2019 season will begin in September.  Any level of bowler is welcome. If so, please contact Gary Salzman (coach) at [email protected]  for more information.  Practices will start mid-August.




The Simley All Night Party committee is looking for volunteers for Friday, June 7th. The All Night Party is held every year the night of graduation to provide the graduating class a safe & fun environment to celebrate their graduation with their class. Various duties & shifts are available. Please consider volunteering for this great event.  Here is the link:

IMPORTANT - Graduation Survey - Class of 2019

All seniors must complete a short online survey by Friday, May 17.

This will help us gather valuable information regarding your post-high school plans as well as authorize the release of your final transcript.

You will not be able to pick up your cap and gown on the last day of school if you do not complete this survey.  


IMPORTANT DATES FOR SENIORS:

May 22 - Senior Meeting @ 12:45 in the Performing Arts Center.

May 23 - Senior Signing Day during 6th hour in the Spartan Center.

May 31 - Last day of school.  Cap & gown distribution in the Spartan Center starting @  8 a.m.

June 7 - Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal @ 8 a.m.  Meet in the gymnasium.

June 7 - Graduation Ceremony @ 7:30 p.m.

Spartan Trained Summer Speed & Strength Program - June 10 through August 8

For: Athletes entering grades 7-12.

Cost: $100.  The family max for fees is not applicable to the Summer programs.

Session Times:

   7:00-8:00 A.M.  - High school boys & girls entering 9th-12th grade

   8:00 - 9:00 A.M. - High School girls entering 9th-12th grade

   9:00 A.M. -10:00 A.M. - High School boys entering 9th-12th grade

  10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. - All middle school boys & girls entering 7th & 8th grade

Registration is now open on Feepay. Informational flyers are available in the Activities office. Contact Will Short at [email protected]  if you have questions.




Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.

All middle school & high school sports game schedules can be found at www.metroeastconference.org - click on Simley.  Whenever there are changes to the schedule, the change will be made here.  This is the official schedule.

**If you would like to receive a notification whenever a change is made, you can sign up for that on this website. This is a very helpful feature particularly in the Spring when are dealing with so many weather issues.  

Go to www.metroeastconference.org - click on Simley. On the right hand side of page, there is a box "Notify Me" - click on "Notify Me" - create an account, choose your preferences & you will be notified.  There is also a box to get the mobile app.
