The Simley Cross Country teams competed at the Milaca Mega Meet on Sat, Sep. 21st. In spite of the delays, rain, and very torn up course from the mud, many of the Spartans ran their fastest times of the season. The Varsity races were separated by school size, with Simley in the 2nd largest group. The Boys finished 18th out of 24th, besting conference rival Hill-Murray and section rival Bloomington Kennedy. Gabe Alvear led the team for the first time this season, with his best time of the season in 19:35, followed by Nathan Schauer and Kaiden Schrandt.

In the Girls race, the Spartans finished in 22nd with just the High School runners, closing the gap on conference rival Mahtomedi. The girls were led by Brekken Grathen, Julia Myers, and Crystal Bonilla Rios, who led 8 of the 9 girls to season best performances.

Full results can be found here – Gopherstateevents.com under the Milaca Mega Meet. The Spartans will next compete on Thursday, Sep. 26th at the Osseo Invite.
