The Girls Swim & Dive Team had their toughest competition against Mahtomedi last night.  They rose to the challenge by having fast swims against their competitors.  The 400 Free Relay of Sydney Bohn, Emily Hageman, Sophia Fredeen, & Stella Anderson-Moye popped off an INCREDIBLE seasonal best time & touched out the Zephyrs by 9 tenths of a second.  The Spartans lost to the Zephyrs with a score of 85-98.

Congratulations to the Simley Girls Volleyball team for its straight set victory over South St. Paul on Thursday. The good news for the Packers was they played some of their best volleyball of the season. The bad news was that the Spartans continued their strong play through the middle of the Metro East season (ensconced in second place) and easily took the match 25-16, 25-13, 25-8. The strong blocking that has become a hallmark of the 2019 squad continued as SSP was hard pressed to get the ball past Senior middles Tiwaah Danso and Jackie Stickler, as well as Junior Abby Hepper and Sophomore Acheampomaah Danso. Senior outside hitters Ellie Lanik, Emma Heimerl, and Sydney Stensgard scored at will, while the Nuggets (Juniors Brynn Rogers and Molly Stein and Sophomore Isabella Studer) anchored the back row. Sophomore Lauren Tuccitto saw extended setting time and responded consistently delivering the ball to attackable spots to all hitting positions. Well done Spartans.

Dilla returns to lead the Spartans to season best performances at the Osseo Cross Country Invite!

At the Osseo Invite at Elm Creek Park, the weather finally cooperated and the Spartans had their best race of the Cross Country season. Senior Captain Grant Dilla made his long awaited season debut after an injury stint to lead the team with a 18:14 5k. He was followed by teammates Nathan Schauer, Jacob Scheffer, Kaiden Schrandt, Daniel Williams, and Griffin Wormer who all ran personal best times. In the Varsity girls race, captain Brekken Grathen ran her fastest 5k of the season by 2 minutes with a time of 21:36. Teammates Crystal Bonilla Rios and Abi Lindquist ran personal bests, with Julia Myers and Grace Raab running season best times. In all, 15 Spartans ran personal bests, with another 9 running season best times. The boys finished 8th and girls 6th. They race next Saturday at the Swain Invite in Duluth, the oldest invitational meet in MN.
