SENIORS! The first annual #iapplied College Application Completion Event will be taking place on Tuesday, October 29th during hours 1-4. RSVP at: bit.ly/iappliedrsvp to let us know when to expect you! Come to the Student Center to get help starting and completing applications, assistance with making a post-secondary plan, and ask any questions you may have about the application process. All MN State Colleges and Universities are waiving their application fees next week so take advantage of this great opportunity to complete applications with help! Have you already completed an application or two? Stop by the Student Center to enter a raffle for fantastic prizes, grab a treat, and celebrate your hard work!

PRIDE winners will receive passes to the Spartan Shack during the last 5 minutes of 1st hour to choose their prize.

On what was arguably the 2nd best day for racing, the Simley Varsity Cross Country squads concluded the season at the Section 3AA championships. The boys finished 15th, led by senior captain Grant Dilla, who attacked his final cc race, finishing under 18 minutes for the first time this season. He was followed by strong performances by Nathan Schauer, Kaiden Schrandt, Gabe Alvear, and Jacob Scheffer. It was also the final Cross Country races for seniors Carter Bollmann and Daniel Williams. 

On the girls side, Brekken Grathen and Abi Lindquist ran side by side to lead the girls to an 11th place finish. They were supported by Ana Alvear, Crystal Bonilla Rios, Julia Myers, Grace Raab and Jenna Pearson, making her varsity race debut. The JV squads will race today at the Grade Level Championships in Crystal, getting out of class at 2:00 with the bus leaving at 2:20.

 

Attention all Boy’s Hockey players grades 9  th -12  th interested in participating in High School Hockey this season:

Captains practice begins on Monday, October 28th

*Cost is $100 for 10 sessions. Bring a check written to the BLC

*Ice Times are as follows:

*Oct.28,29,30,31 from 4:20-5:20pm                        

*Nov.1,4,5,6,7,8 from 3:50-4:50pm

In order to participate:

*You must be registered through Fee Pay before Oct.28 th

*This includes your activities fee of $160 for the season

*You must have a current physical on file

*A bus leaves each day from door 26 (behind middle school at 3:40pm) 

*You can leave your equipment in the Simley Athletic office during the day

The Football team begins their section tournament tomorrow here at Simley vs. Hill Murray. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. Section tickets are $5 for students/Senior Citizens and $10 for Adults. Go Spartans!!

 

 

Attention all 9-12th grade boys interested in Wrestling. There will be a registration meeting on Wednesday, October 30th at 3:30PM in the high school cafeteria. If you can’t attend the meeting please contact Coach Short. 

 

 

Attention all 9-12th grade boys that are interested in joining Basketball. There will be a registration meeting on Monday, October 28 at 3:30PM in the high school cafeteria. 

 

Want to be part of a FUN winning team? The BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING Middle School & High School team are having a short Informational MEETING on Tuesday. Oct. 29th at 3:30 p.m. in *Middle School lunchroom* The boys swim team is open to all boys 6-12th grade. This meeting is a chance to meet the team and coaches and get all the paperwork your son will need to join a school sport.  The Boys Swimming & Diving Season is a winter sport and begins Monday, Nov. 25th. NOTE: this meeting is for the athletes.   Parents are more than welcome to attend, but they do not need to attend this meeting.  There is a parent’s meeting scheduled for Dec. 3rd. Reminder to all students interested in taking the PSAT Exam on Wednesday, October 30.  TODAY is The deadline to register. If you have questions, please schedule a time to meet with your counselor.  PSAT Student Guides are available from Ms. Wang in the Guidance Office.

 


Upcoming College Visits:A representative from the following college will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

AP registration is in full swing and the deadline to register/pay for AP exams is November 1st. 

Registration information was handed out in all AP classrooms, but the registration/payment website is www.totalregistration.net/AP/242408

 

If you believe you may qualify for free and reduced lunch/education benefits, please go to the district website under departments, food service, educational benefits application and fill out the free and reduced lunch forms. The cost per AP exam is $12 for families that qualify for F/R benefits. 

 

New this year, in addition to registering and paying for exams on Total Registration, students must also login to their college board account or create an account if they are new to AP. Each student must login to their college board account and enter the "join code" that was provided to them by EACH of their AP teachers. www.myap.collegeboard.org

Teachers were supposed to have students do this step in their AP classes, but many students have not completed this step and it is a necessary step in order to have your exam you registered for and paid for in total Registration ordered for you.

Hey Ladies!  Are you interested in something fun and exciting?  We have a Gymnastics tryout meeting for the 2019-2020 JV and Varsity gymnastics team, it will be in Mrs. Walsh's Room in EA208 (which is above the weight room) on October 30th right after school.  The meeting will last about an hour.  We will share information about the team, calendar of practices and meets, ask questions about gymnastics experience and talk about season apparel. All gymnasts will need to have a current physical on file, fee pay $130 online and all forms filled out.  If you have any questions please direct them to Mrs. Walsh. 

 

 


Simley Nordic will hold a parent and information meeting on 10/29/19 at 6pm in the Flexible learning space.  We welcome skiers of all levels to enjoy their winter skiing with Simley Nordic (XC skiing).  Topics will include practice and meet schedule, costs, gear, expectations, and more. If you are the parent of a current skier, a current skier, or a potential skier please come and learn more about this exciting growing program for students in grades 7-12.  



ATTN Seniors: If you ordered a senior panoramic photo, they are available in the Guidance Office for pick-up. Please see Ms. Wang. There is a limited number of extra copies at a cost of $17 per photo.

 

 

Attention Seniors:  If you have not scheduled a time to meet with your counselor, please do this as soon as possible.  We want to make sure you have all the resources you need during your final year at Simley as well as support you with post high school planning.  We will also gather information to order your graduation cap and gown & diploma. Appointments may be made with your counselor directly from the Simley web page.  



Seniors, if you did not receive a yellow yearbook to do list at the panoramic photo, please see Ms. Hensch. Senior photos, baby photos, and the senior survey are all due by December 1st. Send photos to [email protected]
