New Announcements
Cold Noses, Warm Hearts concludes this Wednesday. Please bring any donations to Mr. Chappuis or to the main office by Wednesday morning.
Status:
1) Winner of the Donut challenge was Ms. Dietzenbach's Advisor
2) Next Monday and Tuesday if you bring in $1 to Mr. Chappuis he will get you on a list to receive a Johnny Pop during advisor before we leave for break.
3) We will be selling Cocoa and Coffee Wednesday Morning before school and will be asking for a $1 donation towards Cold Noses/Warm Hearts.
Our IGHMS Band Concert is Tuesday December 10th in the Simley High School Performing Arts Center (PAC). The concert times are as follows:
6th Grade Band, 6:00 pm
7th Grade Band, 6:30 pm
8th Grade Band, 7:00 pm
The Gymnastics team held the 22nd annual Simley Invite on Saturday and the Spartans placed 4th with a 120.75. Top finishers were; Alexa Lynner 1st on vault and 8th on bars, Bekkah Scufsca 5th on vault, Ashley Lynner 8th on vault, 5th on bars, 6th on floor and 7th in the all around, Julia Myers 9th on bars, Amie Willenbring 10th on bars, and Emmerson Hocking 6th on beam. Congratulations gymnasts! The spartans travel to North St. Paul on Thursday.
Career Day
The IGHMS 8th Grade Career Day is coming soon! The School Counselors at IGHMS are looking for members of our community who would be willing to join us in educating our students about career options. Career day will be Friday, February 14th from 8:15 am until 10:30 am. You will be asked to give a 20 minute presentation to 4 different groups of 8th grade students about your career. Your presence is a great example of the partnership that schools and communities can share; and will assist our students in making better, more informed choices in school and in life after school.

High School Registration for 8th Grade Students - Feb 14th
Presentations on High School Registration will be on Friday, February 14th. High School Counselors will be handing out registration guides and will be reviewing the high school registration process on this day. Please encourage your student to attend February 14th so they will receive this important registration information!
There will be no PTO meeting in December. Please join us January 21st @ 6:30pm in the Media Center to help plan the 7th / 8th grade party, review mini grants and more!

Continuing Announcements
Free Food Available Over Winter Break!
When: December 21, 2019 - January 5, 2020
What: 4-5 pound bag of non-perishable food items
Where: All Twin Cities YMCA branch locations and additional community sites.
How: Simply go to the front desk of your nearest partner location and request a bag of food.
Membership is not required and no information will be collected.

Extended Learning Days
In 2017, the Minnesota legislature amended its state statute on school year requirements to allow schools to use “e-learning days” when faced with dangerous winter weather. Schools can use these e-learning days, known as Extended Learning Days in the Inver Grove Heights Schools District, for up to five days per school year when schools close due to inclement weather. Each Extended Learning Day that schools use counts as a full school day to keep student learning on track and alleviate the need to add makeup days at the end of the school year.
Extended Learning Days will be used after two Snow or Cold Days cancel school. On the third day, families will receive an automated call that will state the reason that school will be canceled and that it is an Extended Learning Day. Click here to learn more about Extended Learning Days.

Sports Schedules
All middle school & high school sports game schedules can be found at www.metroeastconference.org - click on Simley. Whenever there are changes to the schedule, the change will be made here. This is the official schedule.
**If you would like to receive a notification whenever a change is made, you can sign up for that on this site. This is a very helpful feature particularly in the Spring when are dealing with so many weather issues. Go to www.metroeastconference.org - click on Simley. On the right hand side of page, there is a box "Notify Me" - click on "Notify Me" - create an account, choose your preferences & you will be notified. There is also a box to get the mobile app.
*Important Reminder for all students & parents
All middle school students must be accompanied by an adult guardian when arriving to Simley sporting events. Students without an adult guardian will not be allowed to attend these events. Also- no back packs will be allowed in to events so plan ahead to leave them at home.
