PTO News-

Ms. Mohn, IGHMS Social Worker, is in need of art therapy and play therapy materials. We hope to gain parent and student help in getting these items to Ms. Mohn and her students by collecting donations. Please follow the Signup Genius link below to find out what is needed. Donations can be new or gently used-if you have extra art materials or games laying around at home that you no longer use, this is your chance to give them a second chance and help Ms. Mohn and your classmates all at once! You can drop your donations off in the office - look for a marked box or ask Jen where to put them. Thank you!

Wow, the IGHMS Parent Group just received their bi-annual refunding check from Box Tops and we received even more money than we counted on!  This means that people are using the Box Tops app to scan receipts AND that it's working!!  Every lit bit helps, and every penny and dollar raised by the Parent Group is given thoughtful and caring attention - we meet monthly to review Mini Grants requested by teachers and decide how to spend the money YOU the students and parents have helped to raise, so that we can best support teachers and students.  We thank you and the teachers thank you for your help in raising these funds!  Keep up the great work and keep scanning those receipts!!  Shop online?  Cool, that works too!!!  Just forward your email receipt to [email protected]. The next collection of "Clips" (Box Top's name for the box tops that are actually on packages) is coming up - get those Box Tops together and get ready to bring them to your Advisor teachers February 17-21.

Extended Learning Days

In 2017, the Minnesota legislature amended its state statute on school year requirements to allow schools to use “e-learning days” when faced with dangerous winter weather. Schools can use these e-learning days, known as Extended Learning Days in the Inver Grove Heights Schools District, for up to five days per school year when schools close due to inclement weather. Each Extended Learning Day that schools use counts as a full school day to keep student learning on track and alleviate the need to add makeup days at the end of the school year.

Extended Learning Days will be used after two Snow or Cold Days cancel school. On the third day, families will receive an automated call that will state the reason that school will be canceled and that it is an Extended Learning Day. Click here to learn more about Extended Learning Days.
