When you buys your ticket to watch the Simley Girls volleyball team play you can be sure of one thing: You will be entertained. You will be thrilled and mortified. You will be inspired and demoralized. You will be on your feet cheering wildly and leaning back in the bleachers bewildered at what just happened. But you will get your money’s worth. Hill-Murray visited on Thursday, September 30, in the Spartans latest Metro East match up. In a match that swung wildly between the teams, the Spartans came roaring back in the fifth set to win the match 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13. Simley was unstoppable in the first set completely controlling the action and continued its onslaught in the second set before the Pioneers mounted a comeback falling just short. A closely contested third set saw the Spartans come within two points of a great comeback. After Hill-Murray played its best volleyball of the night, the fifth set became a battle of will and desire between the opponents and Simley won two huge points near the end of the set to take the match in the most exciting fashion possible. For a detailed recap of the match and individual highlights, please visit simleyathletics.com

On a warm and humid late September evening, the Simley Cross Country teams took to the Osseo Invite at Elm Creek Park. The Spartans ran away with 13 personal best times and 15 season best times. Megan Gullerud led the way once again for the girls, running a fast pace with the leaders through the first mile in 6:05 and went on to finish 4th in a personal best time of 19:51. Jacob Scheffer led the boys with a 5 second or of his own in 18:20, leading the boys to a 15 place finish in the 22 team field.

The Spartans next race at home on the Simley trails and fields for the Simley Invite.

Becoming Organizers, Becoming Advocates (BOBA), is an Asian Minnesotan youth leadership and organizing program co-created with young people. BOBA offers a safe and brave space for Asian Minnesotan youth to come together to discover how their identity and leadership make them a powerful force for change. Through BOBA, young leaders explore topics and issues that impact them and their communities, learn advocacy and organizing skills, and create solutions that they can take action on to create change. We are recruiting youth to join us for our 2021-2022 cohort and would like to share this opportunity with you. For more information, see your counselor.

Supply Shortages Cause Frequent Menu Changes

Just like cafeterias and restaurants across the country, ISD 199 Food Service is experiencing many challenges receiving the products staff have ordered due to manufacturer shortages and delivery delays. These shortages and delays are affecting ingredients, menu items, and serving supplies, such as meal trays.

Food service staff will update their online menus as quickly as possible when changes need to be made. However, last minute changes and product substitutions may occur without notice due to shortages and the number of students eating meals that day. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we do our best to meet the needs of all students.
