School Start Time Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 15

During the 2016-2017 school year, the School Start/End Time Review Committee determined that more conversation was needed about changing school start and end times at the elementary and secondary levels. The committee reconvened in February to find out more about the impact of school start and end time changes on elementary students, transportation, and activities and athletics. ISD 199 community members are invited to learn more about the start time conversation at a community meeting on May 15 at 5:30 PM in the Simley High School Spartan Center. For more information, research, and updates, please visit the Start Time Review webpage, www.isd199.org/district/start_time_review.

Do you love to run?  Do you love to have fun? Do you enjoy testing your limits?  Then come join the Simley Cross Country team for Fall 2018! There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, May 16th at 6 p.m. in the Simley High School Spartan Center. If you have questions, please contact Coach Gerber at [email protected]

For the third straight day the Simley girls golf team hit the course Wednesday in competition, this time in a conference match with Tartan at Inver Wood. Once again the depth of the Spartan line-up was on display. The Spartans carded 4 of the best 5 scores on the day. Sophomore Jordan Juers (5th), Junior Captain Rachael Wolfe (3rd), and Senior Abby Stein (2nd) rounded out the Spartans team score. Simley was led by match medalist Isabella McCauley, who used a hot putter to set the new all-time 9 hole record for the Spartans with a (-2) 34. The team will be back in action on Saturday at the Dakota County Championship at Emerald Greens.

Congratulations to the Simley Boys Golf team for its devastating win over conference rivals Hill-Murray and Mahtomedi. Clinging to a tenuous lead in the standings over the perennially strong Pioneers and Zephyrs, the Spartans welcomed their opponents to Inver Wood in the best way possible firing a season best 152, which is also the 4thbest nine-hole team score in program history. Dragging himself from his sick bed in Michael Jordan fashion, Senior James Royce (more than just a caddy) shot the best score of his golfing career, an even par 36. Inspired, Senior Jamie Warrick and Junior Ben Borchard added 38’s, while Senior Evan Schultz and Freshman Zach Painter followed closely with matching 40’s, with 8th grader Josh Painter just out of the money but with a strong round. The victory kept the Spartans in the hunt for the Metro East championship.
