From the Superintendent
Our school district's vision is to create learning environments that provide for high student achievement so all learners are academically and socially prepared for lifelong learning. The district has high academic standards and expectations as well as a record of outstanding student achievement in and out of the classroom. Our staff is very proud and believes educating children at a high level is one of the most important jobs in the world. The school community is supportive of its schools and our effort to provide the best possible education for our students.
I have had the opportunity to be Superintendent of ISD 199 since July of 2014. Prior to coming to Inver Grove Heights, I served as an administrator in the South Washington County Schools as an assistant superintendent and principal. I have also served as an elementary principal with ISD 199 and a teacher in Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools and Watertown School District in South Dakota.
ISD 199 has a wealth of opportunities for learners of all ages. We invite you to participate in these opportunities and to attend district events.

District Strategic Plan
ISD 199's strategic plan helps guide the district's decision-making. The recently refined plan focuses on Belonging, Relationships, and Engagement. It includes our mission, vision, core values, strategic directions, and classroom theory of action. It also outlines the 199 Way, which uses Belonging, Relationships, and Engagement to help our district provide what our students, staff, and families want to experience on a daily basis.
Learn More About ISD 199
ISD 199 is a public school district of 3,500 students in preschool through 12th grade. The district seeks to inspire students, innovate in its programming, and help students excel so they can make a positive impact on our community.
ISD 199 includes Hilltop, Pine Bend, and Salem Hills elementary schools, Inver Grove Heights Middle School, and Simley High School. Salem Hills also offers the Atheneum Gifted Magnet Program, a National Blue Ribbon School, for high-achieving students in grades 2-5, and Simley offers an award-winning Alternative Learning Program, which provides a smaller learning environment with individualized curriculum to support eligible juniors and seniors.
IGH Early Learning's Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes support parents with new babies and develop the foundational skills of children from birth through 3 years old to ensure success in school and beyond.
TriDistrict Community Education provides a wide variety of enrichment classes for youth, adults, and 55+ adults in Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, and parts of West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, and Eagan.
