U.S. News & World Report ranked Atheneum Gifted Magnet Program as the No. 1 public elementary school in Minnesota for 2023. The Best Elementary Schools list ranks the top 75% of traditional, magnet, and charter public elementary schools in each state. Atheneum was ranked above more than 800 Minnesota elementary schools.

Atheneum Gifted Magnet Program is proud to be a National Blue Ribbon High Performing School. The U.S. Department of Education awarded the school the designation in 2011. Atheneum serves students in grades 2-5. Students invited to participate have been tested and found to be in the superior range of cognitive ability.

The program's mission is to provide a self-contained classroom option for students to enhance the daily academic rigor that will motivate and challenge this group of learners.
