Absentee & Early Voting

Updated: October 27, 2021

Independent School District No. 199, Inver Grove Heights Community Schools, will be holding a general election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Extended in-person voting hours will be available from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on November 2. Visit pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us to find your polling place. Vote early with absentee voting starting September 17 or early voting starting October 26.

Absentee Ballot Voting
An absentee ballot is a vote cast early (beginning 46 days prior to the election) by someone who is unable or unwilling to attend the official polling station to which the voter is normally allocated. Absentee voters can vote by mail or in person by completing an absentee ballot application. If a voter is registered, they are able to vote and seal their ballot in an envelope that is returned to the county or district office to be accepted or rejected by the absentee ballot board. If a voter is not registered, they must fill out an additional Voter Registration Application in order to proceed with voting by absentee ballot.

ISD 199 will have early voting and absentee voting by mail and in person available this year at the ISD 199 District Office, 2990 80th Street East in Inver Grove Heights.

Absentee Ballot (AB) Voting will begin on Friday, September 17, and will continue through Monday, November 1. Voting hours will be weekdays 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Early Voting
Early voting offers voters a choice during the final seven days before Election Day to insert their ballots directly into a ballot tabulator, instead of sealing them into an envelope to be processed and tabulated later. This voting process is similar to what occurs on Election Day for voters, and allows them an opportunity to see their ballots being tabulated and to receive notification by the tabulator of errors that may have been made on the ballot.

Early Voting begins Tuesday, October 26, and will be available each weekday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Early voting will end on Monday, November 1. On this final day of early voting, hours will be 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
